The British heavyweight repeated his much-discussed comments about being prepared to “kill” Jake Paul during a press event in Florida on Wednesday.

The remarks were first made on the previous day when the boxer was questioned if he would hold back against the social media star, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming contest against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has drawn concern over the risk involved and the physical disparity between the two competitors.

Fury Labels Joshua a “Classless Loser”

Ex- world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury branded Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory language.

But Joshua, defended his position: “It's my job, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I'm sure many people don't comprehend it but this is what my job is. I love what I do. The outcome, happens - as long as my hand is held high, that's what's important, respectfully.”

He continued, “That's just the mentality we have to have as fighters. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more reserved. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a perilous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You pray your opponent exits the ring unharmed, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was not personal.”

Jake Paul's Incendiary Response

Jake Paul, a huge outsider in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was equally fiery in his reply.

“This is a contemporary combat sport,” Paul said. “I'm ready. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”

Joshua will face his opponent, in his twenties, at Miami's arena in a bout many consider a significant mismatch, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The professional contest will be fought over eight 3-minute rounds using standard 10oz padded gloves, with a specified maximum weight for the former champion.

He Says He Was “Brought In to Save” Boxing

Despite the vulgar language used, the fighter claimed he has been “called in to save” boxing.

“They want me to halt the Jake Paul show and I comprehend it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this bout,” he added.

The news conference also had lighter exchanges, with AJ laughing as Paul sang a nursery rhyme to him.

The final staredown concluded peacefully, with the underdog striking a odd pose before Joshua stayed composed and playfully grabbed his chain.

Both Fighters Deny Pre-Arranged Allegations

The peculiar aspect of this bout has led to questions about its legitimacy, including suggestions that Joshua may be prohibited from knocking Paul out.

“There are no clauses in the contract, Joshua can attest to it. We're going to war,” Paul said.

Joshua, sporting a valuable chain, humorously remarked, “The only thing in the contract that got my interest was the payment.”
